“The Light Blues” Glasgow Rangers is an all-time greatest club in history of Scottish domestic football with the World record 18 domestic double champions. The four founders of Rangers. met in 1872 and named their team after an English rugby club upon seeing the name in a book. The 1890–91 season saw the inception of the Scottish Football League, and Rangers were one of ten original members, immediately win the first title sharing with Dumberton. Rangers formally became a limited company in 1899. In 1961 Rangers reached the final of the European Cup Winners' Cup, becoming the first British club to reach the final of a UEFA club competition. The 1971 Ibrox disaster overshadowed what happened on the pitch to a large extent in the early 1970s. This tragedy is still remembered for Rangers’ football fan until today. In 1972, Rangers won the Cup Winner's Cup, their first and only European trophy to date. Rangers won the league title nine times in row between 1988 and 1997 is a record tied with Celtic. It holds the record longest streak without conceding a goal in Scottish League with 1095 minutes achieved in the 1986 - 1987 season. Rangers is one of the four clubs in Europe to win all games in a domestic single league season achieved in the 1898 - 1899 season in which is also a record of Rangers in the most goals ratio and goals difference ratio in history of Scottish league with 4.38 (79 goals) and 3.38 (61 diffs) respectively in 18 games. The club holds the World record most domestic league winners and double champions with 54 titles and 13 doubles, respectively.
